President Adrian's Plans for the future

Adrian King Mugshot

I hope the club will continue to attract new members and raise money for local charities. I have chosen Prostrate Cancer and Hjalpande Hander as the charities I wish to support this year. Hjalpande Hander is a local charity that gives young adults with additional needs the chance to get paid work operating a mobile catering trailer.

Our main fundraising event is the Great Swindon Duck Race which I am sure, under the leadership of Gary, will once again be a great fundraiser for local charities and an enjoyable event for all.

As well as the Duck Race, Steph and Pam's Soft Toy Tombolas will continue to raise funds for the Desai School. We will continue to help the Parks Pantry providing much needed support with the food bank. There is also the possibility of Dick publishing another book following the success of his first one.

Other fund raising events will take place including a Curry Night for End Polio Now, a race night, quiz evening and we will support the car parking for the Light Trail at Christmas in the Town Gardens.

Whilst raising money for charities is an important part of Rotary, it needs to be remembered that Rotary should be enjoyable, a chance to meet new people and not become a chore. The strength of the club is in its members.
